“CHICKENS IN THE HOUSE????”

Here is a photo of Eileen Thiesen and her family admiring the two new baby chicks which hatched on Mother’s Day in the incubator. “Herky” and “Jerky” made their debut after sitting in the warm environment for 21 days. They found their way to a new home on Monday and will live a good life on the farm.  Residents enjoyed watching the eggs rotate, shake, wiggle and hatch.  Out of the dozen eggs, it is likely that these two are the only ones who will hatch.  We will keep you posted!!!!

"IOWA LOCKSMITH ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS NEW MEMORY CARE UNT"

Twenty five members of the Iowa Locksmith Association recently met at the Good Neighbor Home. It was the first quarterly
meeting of this newly formed chapter under the direction of the ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America). Members from across the state met to discuss new information and new resources available. Bill Smith, the Regional Director of ALOA from Dallas, TX will be on hand later this summer to officiate at a formal ceremony recognizing this new chapter. To thank the Good Neighbor Home for offering a space to meet, the Iowa Locksmith Association donated $100.00 toward the construction of the new Memory Care Unit now in progress. Pictured are Dan Walderbach from Manchester, Secretary of the ALOA and Leann Miller, Administrator, Good Neighbor Society.

"Hanson Generosity Continues"
Dorothy and Erling Hanson lived in and cared about the Delaware County
community. In addition to funding the beautiful Hanson Auditorium in
Manchester, the Hanson's earmarked funds for the benefit of the people
who live here. The Manchester Police Department and the Good Neighbor
Home were recent recipients of automated external defibrillators as a
result of the generosity of Erling and Dorothy. Seated: Kara
Winkowitsch, Director of Nursing at the Good Neighbor Home and Rick
Carnicle of the Manchester Police Department. Standing: Bruce Trapp,
Manchester Chief of Police and Cliff Bunting, representative of the
Hanson Estate. This is the third automated external defibrillator
available to the Police Department and the first for the Good Neighbor
Home. These devices have proven their value and efficacy by the Police
Department by saving the lives of several residents in this community
over the past months. The Good Neighbor Home and the Police Department
gratefully accept this generous gift.
