Stained Glass Windows Provide Finishing Touch

Pictured is Keith Thompson, donor of two stained glass windows in the chapel in Marietta’s Place on the campus of the Good Neighbor Home.  These beautifully crafted windows were designed exclusively for the new memory care unit set to open within weeks, and dedicated in loving memory of Keith’s wife, Earlene.

The Chapel Takes Shape

One of the unique features in the new Ben and Marietta Johnson Memory Care Unit (also known as Marietta’s Place) is the dedicated, private chapel complete with altar and stained glass windows – which will be completed this week.  St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lamont has donated their chapel furnishings for use in the chapel at Marietta’s Place.

The Finishing Touches

The LBSI crew is busy with final details in preparation for the Grand Opening of the Ben and Marietta Johnson Memory Care Unit, also known as "Marietta's Place" on the campus of the Good Neighbor Home. The 20 bed, all private room addition provides specialty services for those with Alzheimer's Disease and other memory impairments and is expected to open in the next few weeks.

THE GOOD NEIGHBOR HOME CONTINUES TO MAKE PROGRESS!

This group of gals is pleased to announce the continued success of our fundraising efforts for the new Memory Care Unit being built at the Good Neighbor Home.  The total so far stands at $1.245 million – so close to the goal of $1.5 million. We are so excited to inch closer to our goal and thank everyone in the community who has helped us so far – we have 10 weeks to complete the goal!!  Please contact Leann Miller at 927-3907 if you would like to be part of this successful story!

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS!!
Let the dirt be moved!! On Friday, October 9th, the first of many loads
of dirt is moved to create the site for construction of the 20 bed
Memory Care Unit. It will be fun to watch the landscape change and the
dream of this unit coming closer to reality each week.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new 20 bed Memory Care Unit at the Good Neighbor Home was a unique and beautiful one. 16 white doves were released in front of a crowd of nearly 100 residents, family members, community leaders and Board members. Construction on the new unit will begin in a matter of weeks, and the goal is for the state-of-the art building to be open by November 1st 2010. Here are some pictures from the dedication ceremony and the release of the doves. The dove has long been associated with the Good Neighbor Society and represents hope and promise to those suffering from Alzheimer's disease. For futher information about the new construction project, please contact Leann Miller, Administrator.
